Български евродепутати са предложили в Брюксел да бъде финансирано изграждането на плавателен канал между Варна и Русе. Двама български евродепутати отново повдигнаха темата, като поискаха включване на проекта в приоритетните за ЕС трансевропейски транспортни коридори, съобщава Капитал.
Сега идеята за канала беше възродена от двама български евродепутати – Андрей Новаков и Емил Радев от ГЕРБ/ЕНП, които го предлагат като „най-пряката връзка по вода от Атлантика до Черно море през Дунав“ на Европейската комисия за включване в разширената приоритетна трансгранична транспортна мрежа (ТЕН-Т).
Подкрепа получават и сред някои от колегите им в Европейския парламент, от социалиста Петър Витанов и Радан Кънев, от ДБ/ЕНП, който през 2015 г. също беше правил опити да възроди този проект.
По време на гласуването в комисията по транспорт на Европейския парламент по-рано през април предложението получи положителен вот и предстои да се обсъжда на триалози с Европейската комисия и Съвета още тази седмица.
Ако тези преговори завършат с положителен резултат, проектът вече официално ще бъде част от основните транспортни маршрути на съюза, а от там ще получи възможност за съфинансиране по различни линии като Механизъм за свързаност на Европа, финансови инструменти от Европейската инвестиционна банка, а защо не и кохезионни пари.
Maritime.bg припомня, че четвъртият по големина град в Румъния – Тимишоара, вече има достъп до европейската речна мрежа.
Българският проект, който сега ще се обсъжда, е известен като „Аспарухов вал – 680“, е наследство от социализма. Румъния вече работи по подобен проект за воден канал Букурещ – Дунав с финансиране по оперативните програми 2021 – 2027 и плана за възстановяване.
